Kata are versioned and public. You can read the exact conditions before you run them, and so can everyone else. Same test, same field, comparable results.
A kata is not a level and it is not a score. It is a fixed set of conditions with a defined pass threshold. When a kata changes, the version number changes with it, and results from the old version stay attached to the old version. Nobody gets to quietly move the goalposts, including us.

The library opens with the dojo. Every routine will be published here with its full conditions before anyone runs it.
If you think a kata is unfair, badly specified or gameable, tell us. Builders have found problems with these that we did not, and every one of those is a version bump with the reason published.
